Marc T. Miller

ATTORNEY Attorney Marc T. Miller represents individuals and businesses in a wide range of complex litigation matters. His recent cases have included construction litigation, contract disputes, business torts, employment disputes, real property litigation, foreclosures, and landlord/tenant disputes. Attorney Miller has significant litigation and appellate experience, as well as considerable experience representing both creditors and debtors in bankruptcy proceedings. Throughout his career, Attorney Miller has always focused on the representation of individuals and businesses engaged in commercial disputes and those dealing with financial distress. He is very familiar with the unexpected challenges individuals and businesses can face and well able to assist clients through those challenges. Attorney Miller began his legal career as a judicial law clerk. His understanding of the judicial system has only increased since then, through his many years of association with a boutique firm in Norwalk and his service Of Counsel to a large Bridgeport firm. He has been admitted to practice in the State of Connecticut, the State of New York, the District of Columbia, the U.S. District Court for the District of Connecticut, the Southern District of New York, the Eastern District of New York, the Second Circuit Court of Appeals, and the Supreme Court of the United States. Susan L. Miller

PARTNER Attorney Miller maintains an active and diverse trial practice handling a variety of matters including but not limited to, bad faith, insurance coverage claims, product liability, personal injury, premises liability, automobile and asbestos claims.  Her clients include insurance companies, third party administrators, self-insureds and corporations. In recognition of her skill, integrity and extensive trial experience, she was nominated and elected to the prestigious American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA).  ABOTA is a national association of experienced trial attorneys that requires its members to be responsible for elevating the standards of integrity, honor, ethics, civility and courtesy in the legal profession. She has also been elected to the Federation of Defense & Corporate Counsel. During her career, Ms. Miller has had considerable experience as a general practitioner handling real estate transactions, probate, landlord and tenant disputes and general corporate matters.  Ms. Miller prepares and defends civil litigation matters involving personal injury, product liability, professional liability, coverage disputes, bad faith, uninsured motorist, sick building, and toxic waste cases. Ms. Miller tries cases in both the State and Federal Courts.  She has taken and argued appeals in both the Connecticut Appellate and Supreme  Courts, and has numerous reported decisions, particularly in the area of insurance law.  She also represents lawyers before the Grievance Committee. Julia Bertram Morris

MANAGING PARTNER Julia Bertram Morris, the firm's Managing Partner, has a diverse range of experience in business, litigation, and appellate matters. In addition to her management responsibilities at the firm, Attorney Morris acts as corporate counsel for a number of business clients in Fairfield County – assisting her clients with all matters ranging from negotiating contracts, to commercial closings, to managing litigation. Her business representation covers a wide variety of industries, with a concentration on matters relating to real estate, development and finance. Her Appellate practice includes over 20 reported Connecticut Appellate and Supreme Court decisions, and an award in 1998 for writing the best appellate brief in the State of Connecticut. Michael D. O’Connell

PARTNER Michael D. O’Connell has litigated a broad range of complex issues throughout the U.S., in cases dealing with complex commercial transactions, claims of bad faith and unfair trade practices, employment issues, bankruptcy, construction  accidents and virtually every other type of matter that might land at the doorstep of his business and insurance clients. He has served as national coordinating counsel for clients with significant product liability exposure, including asbestos products, tire and automotive products, and construction machinery. He has extensive experience in dealing with environmental issues, both in the construction litigation context and in real estate development.  He has relations with a broad range of experts, whether technical, financial or otherwise, who can come to the aid of his clients in the litigation context.  He has handled insurance defense work for multiple property and casualty liability insurers ever since he began the practice of law. He has extensive experience in Intellectual Property Law, including trademarks, service marks and copyrights, as well as patent law litigation. On the local level, his practice provides a link between the litigation arena and the real estate, insurance and commercial practices.
