Susan L. Miller

PARTNER Attorney Miller maintains an active and diverse trial practice handling a variety of matters including but not limited to, bad faith, insurance coverage claims, product liability, personal injury, premises liability, automobile and asbestos claims.  Her clients include insurance companies, third party administrators, self-insureds and corporations. In recognition of her skill, integrity and extensive trial experience, she was nominated and elected to the prestigious American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA).  ABOTA is a national association of experienced trial attorneys that requires its members to be responsible for elevating the standards of integrity, honor, ethics, civility and courtesy in the legal profession. She has also been elected to the Federation of Defense & Corporate Counsel. During her career, Ms. Miller has had considerable experience as a general practitioner handling real estate transactions, probate, landlord and tenant disputes and general corporate matters.  Ms. Miller prepares and defends civil litigation matters involving personal injury, product liability, professional liability, coverage disputes, bad faith, uninsured motorist, sick building, and toxic waste cases. Ms. Miller tries cases in both the State and Federal Courts.  She has taken and argued appeals in both the Connecticut Appellate and Supreme  Courts, and has numerous reported decisions, particularly in the area of insurance law.  She also represents lawyers before the Grievance Committee. Kathryn C. Rivet

ATTORNEY Attorney Kathryn C. Rivet practices civil litigation. Her clients include product manufacturers in defense of product defect, general liability, and fire claims. She handles national litigation involving claims for the loss of life and property. In addition to representing clients in the courtroom, she regularly attends fire scene investigations and fire artifact investigations. Prior to joining O’Connell, Attmore & Morris, LLC, Attorney Rivet acted as Senior Associate Counsel at another Connecticut firm where she handled civil defense of clients in Connecticut and other jurisdictions throughout the United States for several years. Attorney Rivet worked as a Legal Research Clerk for the judges of the Connecticut Superior Court. Attorney Rivet has worked as an extern at the Office of the Attorney General of Massachusetts and also for law firms located in Massachusetts specializing in civil matters. Before becoming an attorney, Attorney Rivet worked for international manufacturing and distribution companies, which gives her a practical understanding of her business clients’ needs and priorities. Attorney Rivet participates in training and educational opportunities through national and regional defense counsel associations, as well as the International Association of Arson Investigators and the National Association of Fire Investigators. Frederick B. Tedford

ATTORNEY After obtaining his law degree in 1972, Attorney Tedford served for five years as a member of the United States Air Force Judge Advocate General Corps where he prosecuted and defended criminal cases pursuant to the Uniform Code of Military Justice. After receiving an Honorable Discharge in 1977, Attorney Tedford joined the Hartford law firm of Danaher Lewis and Tamoney where he practiced Insurance Defense Litigation. In 1981, Attorney Tedford joined four other attorneys in opening the Law Firm of Danaher O’Connell Attmore Tedford & Flaherty, which in 1986 became the Law Firm of Danaher Tedford Lagnese & Neal. From 1981 until 1994 he defended a major manufacturer of asbestos pipe covering in litigation nationwide. It was during this period that Attorney Tedford also acted as medical counsel, representing 17 of 21 defendants in the Connecticut asbestos litigation filed in the U.S. District Court District of Connecticut where he was responsible for defending his 17 clients with respect to all medical issues during settlement negotiations and at trial. Attorney Tedford also had the opportunity to litigate asbestos cases for his client in many jurisdictions throughout the United States on a pro hac vice basis. In 1994, Attorney Tedford shifted his focus to the national representation of insurers, product manufacturers and service providers in claims and litigation involving personal injury, death or property damage resulting from fires or explosions.
