Congratulations to Sue Toomey of our office for being this year’s recipient of the Clara Barton Award for Communications. The Clara Barton Award is one of the highest awards the American Red Cross bestows on volunteers. It recognizes service in volunteer leadership positions held over a period of years.
Sue has been writing for the American Red Cross for several years. She now develops the quarterly newsletters for the CEO and Executive Director of the Connecticut and Rhode Island Chapters, which are distributed to more than 60,000 people. In the summer of 2018, tornados ripped through several towns in Connecticut leaving many neighborhoods accessible only by foot. The Red Cross put out a plea for volunteers to help with damage assessment and welfare checks and Sue volunteered her time to assist in that effort. She is always willing to help out where needed.
We are proud to have contributors like Sue on our team who care about their community and reach out to help in meaningful ways.
